Adela Velarde Perez

The woman who inspired Antonio Gil del Río Armenta to write one of the most beautiful corridos of the Mexican Revolution - La Adelita - lived her last years in Del Río, Texas , where her remains lie next to her husband, Colonel Alfredo Villegas .

A soldier's grave that reads "La Adelita 9-8-1900 9-1-1971" , without further recognition or glory, is what marks the place where her remains lie in eternal rest.

This is the website that accomplishes two goals:

  1. Show who La Adelita was and the events that gave rise to the famous corrido, because this is a very important chapter in the history of the Mexican Revolution and of Mexico as a whole.

  2. To announce the project to erect a bronze monument over the tomb of La Adelita , where the symbol of the courage and beauty of Mexican women will be celebrated.

BENCHMARK

The monument to La Adelita will be a point of reference for those who wish to experience, during their visit to a historic site, a very important part of Mexico's revolutionary struggle.

To achieve this goal, we need to raise $40,000, and you can be part of this great historic project and leave your mark for future generations.

The rules for participation and how to register your name for this important collective initiative will be announced soon.
